FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Aug. 24, 2021) Fort Leonard Wood officials have released the name of a deceased Soldier who was found with a gunshot wound Aug. 20 in a barracks complex.

Pvt. Jamal Rogers, 18, whose home of record is listed as Conyers, Georgia, entered the Army in July 2021, and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Chemical Brigade.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Pvt. Rogers,” said Maj. Gen. James Bonner, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. “We are deeply saddened and truly heartbroken by the loss of our teammate. As we mourn this tragic loss, our primary concern is taking care of and providing support to those closest to him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pvt. Rogers’ family, friends and fellow Soldiers during this difficult time.”

Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are investigating the death. According to officials, no foul play is suspected at this time.
