Oct. 27

This year’s BOSS Haunted House will be open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in Buildings 723, 724, 727 and 728, located on West 12th Street behind Cunningham Gym. Admission is $5 per person. Visitors who arrive in full costume can receive a discount. The haunted house is open to the public and to all ages, but parental guidance is strongly recommended. For details, call 573.563.5967.

Make a Difference Day, 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 27. Volunteers are needed to help paint, rake, clean up, run book, clothing or food drives and more. Oct. 30

Horror Movie Series, 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Bruce C. Clarke Library. Get into the Halloween spirit watching iconic horror movies. Movies will be rated PG-13. All ages are welcome, but youth must be 13 and older to attend without an adult. Event is free and open to the public. For movie title information, call 573.563.4113.

Oct. 31

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31, the library’s Halloween Story Walk will feature a new book titled “We Don’t Eat Our Classmates!” by Ryan Higgins. This is an exciting family event where patrons of all ages may take a trip around the quad outside the library and read this Halloween book as they stroll. Families will be able to read the story on their own as well as with the children’s librarian. Other activities will include trick-or-treating in the library and spooky music performed by the 399th Army Band. Everyone is encouraged to dress up.

Nov. 11

Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony, 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 starting at Waynesville Middle School. Ceremony begins at 2 p.m., followed by the parade at 2:40 p.m. Parade ends at downtown Waynesville. To participate, call 573.336.5121.

The Legal Assistance Office is currently looking for full- and part-time volunteers to assist with the 2018 tax season, which runs from January through April 2019. Volunteers are needed for both weekdays and weekends. No previous formal tax training is required, as training is provided. Volunteers will attend a multi-day training session conducted by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Interested individuals may contact Capt. Once selected, volunteers are registered with the Army Volunteer Corps.

Registration is open for Youth Sports & Fitness Introduction to Wrestling until Nov. 2. Open to youth ages 5-10. Practices will begin around November 19 in Building 614. All dates and times are tentative. Cost is $45 per youth. Cost includes a team uniform top and medallion. Register youth at Parent Central Services, located in Bldg. 470, Room 1126.
