FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (May 10, 2018) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of May 14 through May 18.

May 12

Mother/Son Dance, sponsored by the Armed Services YMCA, 5  to 7 p.m. May 12 at Pershing Community Center. There will be a live DJ, buffet dinner, dancing and family activities. A photo opportunity will be available s at 4:30 p.m. Boys may attend with their mother, aunt, adult sister, grandmother or other mother figure. Dressy casual is the attire. Tickets are $35 per couple and $10 per each additional son. Tickets will be limited and available beginning April 23 at the Leisure Travel Office. For more information, call 573.329.4513.

Spring Cleaning Yard Sale, 8 a.m. to noon May 12 at the Baker Theater Auxiliary Parking Lot. The following items cannot be sold: weapons, food items, trailers, boats or recreational vehicles, animals or livestock, retail items (Avon, Tupperware, Scentsy, etc.). The Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop will be on site to collect donations. Concessions will be available to purchase from the BOSS Program. The event is open to the public. Sellers will be able to get into the lot and start setup beginning at 6:30 a.m. Advanced Registration is $20 per space and tables are available in advance for $5 each. Spaces or $25 on the day of the event. Registration includes double-length parking space and lots of advertisement. Only one vehicle allowed to enter the sale lot per paid space. Register in person at the Installation Wide Events Office, located in Pershing Community Center.

Strong B.A.N.D.S. Fun Run and Kid’s Half Miler, May 12 at Davidson Fitness Center. 5k beings at 8 a.m. and Kid’s Half Miler begins at 9 a.m. For more information, call 573.596.4359.

Marines’ 19th Annual Volkslauf ‘Extreme’ 10K Run, 8 a.m. June 2 on Fort Leonard Wood. Pre-registration fees are $30 for individual adults, or $125 per team of five. Youth ages 6 to 17 and military personnel who are entry-level students can register for $20 per individual. Collegiate teams and youth teams can register for $70 per team. Youth teams must have one adult age 19 or older as a team captain. Teams with more than five members can register additional runners for $20 per team member. Pre-registration will remain open until Tuesday. After that date, fees will increase to $25 for individual youth, $150 for adult teams and $85 for collegiate and youth teams, while individual adult and student rates will remain unchanged.
