Jan. 24

Jan. 28

Bundles of Joy is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at Army Community Service, 486 Replacement Avenue. This free 6 week course for expecting parents will cover bonding, swaddling, safe sleep, budgeting for baby, car seat safety, and more. Jan. 29

Feb. 1

Registration is open until Feb. 1 for lifeguard classes beginning on Feb. 15 at Davidson Fitness Center. Lifeguard Classes are open to ages 15 1/2 & up. There is a minimum of 4 students and maximum of 15 per class. Participants must attend all classes for certification. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-test being held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 to continue with the rest of the dates for the class. Classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16, 17, 23 and 24. Cost is $225 per person for military and $275 per person for civilians. Register at the Davidson Fitness Center Pool. Feb. 12

Pre-retirement Briefing, 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 12 at Lincoln Hall Auditorium. Attendance is mandatory for all Soldiers with pre-approved retirements and at least 12 months before their retirement date. Pre-registration is not required. For more information, call 573.596.0947.

Community Orientation is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursdays at Building 470, Room 2224. This program is part of a seven-day cycle for in-processing Soldiers called Arrive Strong. Spouses are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact 573.596.0136.

Military exchanges and the commissary are teaming up to encourage families to get fit in 2019. From now through Jan. 31, military shoppers are invited to submit an essay on how their family is choosing to get healthy in the New Year and how their local exchange and commissary are helping them achieve their goals. The winning family will enjoy a cookout with chef Robert Irvine, known for his Food Network programs, including “Dinner: Impossible,” “Chopped” and “Restaurant: Impossible.” To enter the contest, shoppers should submit their essays of 500 words or fewer at www.MilitaryFitFamily.com by Jan. 31. Entries are limited to one per family.

The Fort Leonard Wood Tax Center will remain open through the end of April, and is located on the first floor of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Building 315. Appointments can be made by calling the Fort Leonard Wood Tax Center at 573.596.1040. The FLW Tax Center’s hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays.  While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome during the Tax Center’s hours of operation.

Boss Candygrams will be available for purchase through Feb. 12. Candygrams will be available at the Boss Corner, Bldg. 496, weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Candygrams will be delivered for free on post only on Feb. 14. You can also buy a Candygram for a veteran and the Boss program will deliver them to the St. James Veterans’ Home on Feb. 15. Cost is $5 for sweets and a card or $10 for a teddy bear, sweets and a card. All proceeds go towards the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members Program. The Fort Leonard Wood Retiree Council is seeking nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Retiree of the Year. Selectee must be retired at least 10 years and currently living within the Fort Leonard Wood retirement services area of responsibility.
