Feb. 26

The Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood Black History Month Celebration is scheduled for 11:30 to 1 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Pershing Community Center. Army Special Operations Force recruiters are scheduled to return to Fort Leonard Wood Feb. 26 through March 8 in search of candidates for their Special Forces, Psychological Operations and Civil Affairs programs. ARSOF is looking for Soldiers who are willing to train and prepare, both physically and mentally, to endure 10 to 21 days of assessment and selection with extensive follow-on training. All briefings are scheduled to begin at noon Feb. 26 through 28 and March 4, 5 and 7 in Room 102 of Clarke Library and March 1, 6 and 8 being held in Truman Education Center. Those participating should expect to take a physical fitness test. Tests are scheduled to be held at 7 a.m. March 1 and 8 at the PT Track on the corner of Nebraska and Minnesota avenues. Feb. 27

A Martial Arts Trial Class is scheduled from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at CDC 614. Reserve your spot now for this free trial class. Only 20 slots are available. As part of an ongoing Army-wide effort to resolve unsatisfactory conditions in Army family housing, Fort Leonard Wood’s leadership will hold a town hall to provide information and gain feedback from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Pershing Community Center. This town hall is an internal forum for installation leaders to personally connect with Soldiers, Army families and other residents of Fort Leonard Wood to help ensure they are meeting their obligations to provide safe, quality family housing. Senior members of Balfour Beatty Communities will join Fort Leonard Wood’s senior leaders to engage residents of Fort Leonard Wood housing. These leaders want to ensure residents understand their rights as tenants in privatized housing, how to report a concern and receive prompt action, and how to address any complaint they feel is unresolved. The town hall is slated to be live streamed on the Fort Leonard Wood Facebook page.

Applications for engineers wanting to compete in the 13th annual Lt. Gen. Robert B. Flowers Best Sapper Competition are now being accepted through March 8. The date of the three-day competition, which takes place at Fort Leonard Wood, home of the U.S. Army Engineer Regiment, is April 8 through 10. Competitors will report on April 6. Priority will be given to teams composed of two Sapper Leader Course graduates. Up to 50 teams will start the 50-hour competition, where they will travel 50 miles while completing a variety of events that test their technical and tactical proficiency as Sapper leaders. The U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School is searching for competitors from across the Army for the 2019 Best CBRN Warrior Competition. The school is accepting applications now through March 15. A maximum of 25, two-person teams will be accepted for the competition slated to be held from April 29 to May 3 on Fort Leonard Wood. All Army applicants must be within Career Management Field 74. Competitors should be prepared to road march approximately 35 miles and compete in a variety of Soldier-related events, such as land navigation, combatives, the Combat Water Survival Test, patrol base operations and qualifying with a weapon. Participants should also be prepared to compete in a myriad of CBRN related tasks and events. Community Orientation is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon, Thursdays at Building 470, Room 2224. This program is part of a seven-day cycle for in-processing Soldiers called Arrive Strong. Spouses are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact 573.596.0136.

The Fort Leonard Wood Tax Center will remain open through the end of April, and is located on the first floor of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Building 315. Appointments can be made by calling the Fort Leonard Wood Tax Center at 573.596.1040. The FLW Tax Center’s hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays.  While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome during the Tax Center’s hours of operation.

Alcoholics Anonymous, meets from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the Main Post Chapel, Room 132. Other meetings are at 8 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays on Hemphill Road, off Highway Y in St. Robert. There is also a women-only meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesdays at this location.
