Nov. 4

Army Community Service Group for Children with Autism is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Mondays at ACS. This program is for children and parents to learn social and communication skills through music. Nov. 5

The Fort Leonard Wood Health Fair is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5 in Bldg. 470, Room 2108. Government civilian employees, active duty family members and retirees can gain information about available benefit programs. Open benefit season is Nov. 11 to Dec. 9.

Nov. 9

Registration is underway for the annual Turkey Trot 5K/10K, scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 9 starting at Davidson Fitness Center. Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female 5K and 10K winners, as well as the top male and female finishers in six age groups. Pre-registration is $20 now through Nov. 5 and includes a bib and short-sleeved T-shirt. Same-day registration is $30.Registration can be completed in person at DFC. The Outdoor Adventure Center is slated to host a 3D Archery Shoot 12 p.m. Nov. 9 at the OAC. Test your skill with 15 different animal targets, all varied in distance and difficulty. Event is individual shooter. Open to the public, ages 18 & up. The first prize winner will take away a hunting backpack filled with archery goodies. Nov. 12

General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital is scheduled to hold a town hall beginning at 1 p.m. Nov. 12 in the GLWACH MEDDAC classroom.

Nov. 15

A Free Household E-cycling event for the Fort Leonard Wood community is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at Nutter Field House. E-cycle your old computers, printers, fax machines, televisions, audio equipment, cell phones, microwaves and household batteries. Nov. 18

Bundles of Joy is scheduled to begin 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 18 at Army Community Service Bldg. 486. This is a 6 week course for expecting parents.  Topics will include bonding, swaddling, safe sleep, budgeting for baby, car seat safety, and more. The Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment and Military Services Coordinator are now located in Bldg. 470, Room 1108. For more information, call 573.563.5853.

Applications for the Dental Assistant training program are being accepted through Nov. 15 in Bldg. 470, Room 1130. The program begins in April 2020, and is a six-month, 40 hours per week combination of classroom and hands-on education and skills. It is open to military members, dependents 18 years and older, and retirees – due to chemical and x-ray exposure, pregnant women cannot be considered. For more information, call 573.596.0300.

On-post housing residents will be receiving an email-based survey in November to validate whether or not housing concerns are being addressed on Fort Leonard Wood. An Announcement will be sent a week prior from housingsurvey@celassociates.com, and residents are asked to add the address to their allowed sender list to prevent survey from ending up in spam folders. Anyone who didn’t receive the email link to the survey, or who may have deleted the email, may request it be re-sent by emailing back to the same address above. All responses to the survey are confidential and anonymous. However, residents will have the option of providing contact information if they wish.

Santa Suit Rentals will be available from November through December at the Middle School/Teen Center. Rentals are first come, first served. Cost for Santa suit is $65. You can be Mrs. Claus for $55 or dress up as an elf for $45. Payment is required for reservations. Price includes a 24-hour rental. All money supports the Fort Leonard Wood youth program. Operation Little Learner, Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Piney Hills Community Center.
