July 2
United States Army Engineer School Change of Commandant Ceremony, 9 a.m. July 2 at MSCoE Plaza. Brigadier General Robert F. Whittle, Jr. will relinquish command to Colonel (P) Mark C. Quander.
It’s Tuesday Trivia night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 2 at the Ozark Tavern. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. This free event is open to the public, ages 18 and up. For more information, call 573.596.0001.

These Colors Don’t Run 5k, 8 a.m. July 4 at Davidson Fitness Center. T-shirt pickup will be from 4 to 6 p.m. July 2 at Davidson Fitness Center. Your receipt is required. Volunteers are needed. Please contact Davidson Fitness Center if you are interested in helping out. Colored chalk powder is thrown in the air and at clothing. Chalk does discolor fabric and skin. An alternate passage around chalk points will be available. Cost is $15 for pre-registration and $20 for race day registration. Pre-register in person only at Davidson Fitness Center until July 2. Join us for Fort Leonard Wood’s celebration of our nation’s 243rd birthday, and the largest fireworks presentation in Central Missouri 3 p.m. July 4th at Gammon Field. The event is free and open to the public. There will be activities, games, music and a car show. There will be special appearances by Red Sun Rising and Jerrod Niemann. Red Sun Rising will perform at 6:30 p.m. and Jerrod Niemann will perform at 8:15 p.m. For more information call 573-596-6913.

July 11
General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital will host its Lunch and Learn Series at 11:45 a.m. July 11 at the GLWACH MEDDAC classroom. The topic will be on What You Ought to Know About Skin Care.
July 12
Lunch and Learn series: Resiliency and Meals in Minutes, beginning at 11:30 a.m. July 12 in Bldg. 470, Room 2108 and 2109. Seating is limited, so first come, first served.
July 20
Float Fest is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20 at Happy Hollow Recreation Area. Event includes a two-hour float trip followed by an afternoon of food, fun and games. Pick up and drop off will be provided. Guests are welcome for the food and festivities. There will be a volleyball tournament, tug of war competition, bounce houses, horseshoes and other fun family activities. Cost is $50 per canoe. Looking for a gown for your next military ball or school dance? The House Next Door offers free gown rentals through their Gowns Galore program. The only cost to you is dry cleaning before you return your rental. Gowns Galore is open from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Thursday at 13900 Replacement Ave., Building 493. Shuttle bus service is now available from designated bus stops on an established route for valid DoD ID card holders on official business. This service should be used by personnel for administrative functions, such as travel between barracks, the Consolidated Troop Medical Clinic/hospital and places of duty, as well as movement to meet official business appointments. The service does not provide service to installation AAFES locations or eating establishments. Shuttle service is available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (except federal holidays). The Armed Services Blood Program is in need of blood donors. The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center is located in Building 822 at the corner of Iowa and Kansas streets. People can donate from 8 a.m.to 3:30 p.m. Sundays through Tuesdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 573.596.5385 for an appointment. Walk-in donors are welcome.
Army Community Service Bright Start Play Group runs from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. Children between the ages of 0 and 3 years are eligible to participate. Did you know the Career Skills Program is a component of the Soldier Life Cycle that encourages and prepares Soldiers for civilian employment? Transitioning service members who have or are currently in the process of transitioning and are interested in pursuing an internship in an industry of their choice should visit the Career Skills Program Administrators in Building 499, Room 24. Army spouses can now apply for reimbursement of up to $2,500 in professional relicensing expenses through Army Emergency Relief when they move to another state. The first step for spouses is knowing the certification requirements in their new state. If assistance is necessary, spouses who are eligible for the reimbursement will need their Soldier to apply for the reimbursement at their command. They will need a completed SF 1034 form, a copy of their PCS orders, and copies of the old state license or certification, the new license or certification, marriage certificate, and proof of fees paid. Soldiers and their spouses will be able to apply for this assistance within 180 days of arrival to their new location by presenting the license or certification from the previous state along with their application, which they can find on aerhq.org.
Soldiers with over 16 years of service who want to transfer their Post-9/11 GI Bill to a dependent must do so before July 12, or risk losing the ability to transfer education benefits. Wednesday Fun Golf Scramble happens every Wednesday until September 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Piney Valley Golf Course on Fort Leonard Wood. This is a 4-person, 9-hole scramble. Cost is $15 for AGF members and $20 for non-AGF members. Open to ages 18 & older. For more information, call 573-329-4770.
