FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (July 16, 2024) — The Soldier who was pronounced deceased in an on-post residence July 12 has been identified as Cpl. Robert Wilson III.

Wilson, 23, was a human resources non-commissioned officer assigned to the 84th Chemical Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood.

Circumstances surrounding this incident continue to be under investigation by Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

“Our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies are with the Soldier’s family, friends and unit during this difficult time,” said Maj. Gen. Chris Beck, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. “Our main concern is caring for the family and those impacted, and ensuring they have all the resources and support they need during this time.”
