FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (June 13, 2025) — More than 6,000 service members on Fort Leonard Wood participated in a 3-mile division-style run this morning to celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday. Fort Leonard Wood celebrated the Army’s 250th birthday all week with several events that included:
- a 250-mile relay-style run that started June 9 and ended with the division-style run today, June 13;
- a veterans streamer ceremony that took place June 11 on Gammon Field that honored veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm/Desert Shield and the Global War on Terror;
- a wreath laying ceremony, June 12, that featured Soldiers in period uniforms at the Capitol in Jefferson City;
- and a traditional Army cake-cutting ceremony June 12 where the longest- and shortest-tenured Army civilians on Fort Leonard Wood and the oldest and youngest Soldiers joined Fort Leonard Wood leaders in cutting the cakes.
