FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (June 28, 2018) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of July 2 through July 6.
June 30
Outdoor Adventure Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 30 at the 1st Street Soccer Field. There will be archery, paintball, train rides, and more. Free and open to the public. For more information, call 573.596.4223.
July 4
These Colors Don’t Run 5K, beginning at 8 a.m. July 4 at the Davidson Fitness Center. Come get your paint on in this fun and exciting way to get fit. No time, no awards, just good, messy fun. White short sleeved t-shirts will be given to all participants. Early shirt pickup is July 3 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m at Davidson Fitness Center. The cost of the event is $20. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and close a 7:45 a.m. the day of the event.
Independence Day Celebration, beginning at 3 p.m. July 4 at Gammon Field. There will be activities, games, music, and fireworks presentation. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. No pets or personal coolers allowed at event. The special ceremony featuring the 50-gun Salute to the Union will begin at 7:45 p.m. followed by a headline concert featuring the band Smallpools. July 4th Car Show, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 4 at Gammon Field. Categories include Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles. The top vehicles in each category, plus Best in Show, will be chosen by our Service Men & Women and the Fort Leonard Wood Community. The event is free and open to the public. July 7
Red, White & Blue Golf Tournament, 8 a.m. July 7 at Piney Valley Golf Course. The Red, White & Blue Golf Tournament is a 2 person, 18-hole scramble. There are 3 different formats, along with 3 different sets of tees: 6-holes scramble, 6-holes best fall, and 6-holes alternate shot. Breakfast sandwiches will be available for purchase at 7 a.m. There will be a BBQ and tournament scoring at the completion of the tournament. Cost is $35 for AGF members and $45 for non-AGF members. July 13
A bass tournament is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. July 13 at the Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area. Grab your fishing rod and lure in the big one. Each boat must have a DOD authorized card holder. Cost is $40 per boat and $10 additional Big bass. For more information, call 573.346.5640.

Old Dominion, live in concert July 20 at Gerlach Field. Tickets are available at Leisure Travel Services in Exchange Mini Mall or online at https://leonardwood.armymwr.com/calendar/event/old-dominion-concert/2285666/27447. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 the day of show. Children ages 3 and younger do not require a ticket. Gates open at 5 p.m. Opening Act starts at 6:15 p.m. Event is festival seating, bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. No outside food or beverages. No professional photography. No pets.
