FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Nov. 26, 2021) — Hundreds of live Christmas trees will be free for the Fort Leonard Wood community again this year as the Trees for Troops program returns to the Automotive Skills Center Dec. 3 and 4.

Active-duty, Reserve and National Guard service members and their spouses may reserve a pick-up time between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at Bldg. 1383, by calling the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Installation Wide Events Office at 573.596.6913, or by visiting https://leonardwood.armymwr.com/calendar/event/trees-troops/5353232/63719.

A military I.D. is required at time of pickup.

All other authorized personnel are welcome to pick-up a free tree on a first-come, first-served basis between the same times the next day, Dec. 4.

There is a limit of one tree per family.

According to Eli Wilson, FMWR Community Activities manager, most of the trees will be about six-feet tall, but there will be many varieties on hand to choose from, including firs, spruces and pines.

“We’re really glad we were able to bring Trees for Troops back to Fort Leonard Wood again this year,” he said. “It’s nice to be able to help brighten the spirits of our service members with a free Christmas tree.”

The Trees for Troops program has provided more than 250,000 live Christmas trees to service members and their families since the program’s launch in 2005. Learn more about it by visiting https://www.treesfortroops.org.
