FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (February 10, 2025) — The Department of the Army announced Fort Leonard Wood as being one of seven installations to be recognized as winners of the 2024 Army Community Partnership awards for the installation’s “outstanding partnership” with the cities of St. Robert and Waynesville.

“Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement. With over 40 submissions, we have seven winners,” said Dave Leinberger, Army Community Partnerships chief, Office of Deputy Chief of Staff G-9 (Installations), Headquarters Department of the Army.

The Army Community Partnership Recognition Ceremony seeks to highlight examples of exceptional cooperation and diligence that have resulted in improved readiness and will encourage further collaboration to achieve the full potential of community partnering.

According to Leinberger, Fort Leonard Wood was chosen after careful consideration and judging.

“Your commitment to the long-term viability of commercial jet service to and from Fort Leonard Wood stood out among the impressive submissions we received. Your dedication to enhancing the partnership between the Army and the community has not gone unnoticed,” Leinberger said. “We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your exceptional work and the positive impact it has had for the Army as well as your local community. Your efforts truly embody the spirit of collaboration and community service that the Army Community Partnership Award aims to celebrate.”

In response to being selected Col. Steven Bartley, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Leonard Wood commander, said he is thankful for the community support given to the partnership.

“We are fortunate to be a part of this great community that continuously works together to support our service members and families,” Bartley said.

This isn’t the first time Fort Leonard Wood has been recognized — in 2017, Fort Leonard Wood and the Sustainable Ozark Partnership received an Army Community Partnership Award for their success in improving the resiliency of the Fort Leonard Wood and City of St. Robert’s water infrastructure.

The 2024 award will officially be presented at the Army Community Partnership Recognition Ceremony this spring in the Pentagon Hall of Heroes.
