The official theme of the Army’s 243rd Birthday is “Over There! A celebration of Army Heroes from WWI to Present Day.” The official Army birth date is June 14, 1775, making the Army older than the nation it serves.

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (May 31, 2018) – Fort Leonard Wood plans to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 243rd birthday with several events on post June 14, which is the official Army birth date.

Events that day include a division-style Army birthday run kicking off at 5:30 a.m. from Gammon Field, followed by the annual birthday cake-cutting ceremony and ice cream social at 10 a.m. at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza.

The final tribute for the day will be the Streamer and Retreat ceremony at 4:30 p.m. at the MSCoE Plaza for members of Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding communities.
