FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Sept. 6, 2018) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of Sept. 10 through Sept. 14.

Sept. 8

Paw Party, 10 to 12 a.m. Sept. 8 at Wallace Pool. Bring out your pups and keep cool in the pool. Let your furry friend play in the cool waters of the Splash Park, socialize with other dogs, and make some new friends. This event is free and open to the public. Registration will be on site. All dogs must meet the Fort Leonard Wood vaccination requirements and be approved by the FLW Vet Clinic prior to entering. 5k Fun Run, 8 a.m. Sept. 8, Davidson Fitness Center. Noncompetitive event which is part of the 2018 5k Fun Run Race Series. Dogs on leashes welcome. Event includes a mini health fair. Sept. 8-9

Golf Championship, 9 a.m. Sept. 8-9, Piney Valley Golf Course. Open to the public, ages 18 and older. Entry is $50 per person. The top three finishers in each flight will receive a trophy.

Sept. 10

General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital’s Patient Townhall, 1 p.m. Sept. 10 in the MEDDAC classroom. This is the public’s chance to speak to hospital leadership and positively affect change. For more information, call the GLWACH Public Affairs office at 573.596.9359.

Sept. 11

Prayer and Remembrance, a Patriot Day observance remembering Sept. 11, 2001, 11:45 a.m. to noon in Lincoln Hall. Held by the Religious Support Office, the event will include readings, a moment of silence and prayers. For details, call 573.596.2127.

399th Army Band concert “This Is America” in memory of 9/11, 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 11, Roubidoux Park in Waynesville. The concert is free and open to the public.

Sept. 12

Wednesday Night Live, a place for faith, family and fellowship, is held each Wednesday night at the Main Post Chapel. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m., followed by classes for all ages to strengthen your faith. Child care provided. Sept. 15

Registration is open to participate in the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fall Yard Sale, scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 at the Baker Theater parking lot. Advance registration is $20 per space. Same-day registration is available for $25 per space. Tables are available for $5. Registration includes a double-length parking space and advertisement. The event is open to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase by the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members program. Items that cannot be sold include weapons, food items, trailers, boats or recreational vehicles, animals or livestock, and retail items such as Avon, Tupperware, Scentsy, etc. Register by Sept. 13 at the Installation Wide Events Office at 573.596.6913 or register online at leonardwood.armymwr.com.

A Par 3 Golf Tournament is scheduled for 12 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Piney Valley Golf Course. All holes will be at par 3 lengths and there will be prizes on all 18 holes. There will be a Tournament Tee, Senior Tee, and Ladies Tee. There will be outdoor BBQ hamburgers after the tournament. Open to the public, ages 18 and older. Cost is $40 per person. Register at Piney Valley Golf Course by September 12.

Sept. 16

Movie in the park is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Colyer Park. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a movie on the big screen under the stars. No show if rain or high winds. Concessions will be available for purchase from the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program. This Movie in the Park will feature the movie “Ferdinand.” This event is free and open to the public.

Sept. 22

Registration is open for the St. Louis Cardinals Military Appreciation Day slated for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at Busch Stadium.  Come watch the Cardinals take on the Giants. Transportation will be provided. The bus will depart from Leisure Travel Services, located in the PX Mini Mall, at 10:30 a.m. The game begins at 6:15 p.m. and the bus will return to Fort Leonard Wood once the game ends. Open to all ages. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $40 per person for game ticket and a seat on the bus or pay $25 for the bus ride only. Ticket price includes a 2 p.m. entrance to a tailgate party, where you can enjoy FREE hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages. Register at Leisure Travel Services by September 19.
