FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (May 31, 2024) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of June 3 through June 7.

June 4

A Basic Skills Education Program class, for Soldiers interested in potentially raising their General Technical score, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 4 to 18 in Bldg. 499. Call 573.598.0172 for details.

The Fort Leonard Wood ID Card Office will be closed June 4 for software updates at the ID card stations. The office will resume normal hours June 5. Call 573.596.0744 for details.

June 5

Fort Leonard Wood’s Truman Army Education and Personnel Testing Center is hosting an education fair, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 5 at the Exchange indoor mall. Call 573.598.0172 for details.

June 7

The Female Mentorship and Morale Program is hosting its quarterly networking breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. June 7 in the Engineer Regimental Room at the John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex. Service members and civilians of all ranks and gender are welcome and light refreshments will be provided.

June 8

Fort Leonard Wood’s Youth Catfish Derby is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon June 8 at the pond at Training Area 228, off FLW 38. The free event is open to youth anglers, ages 15 and younger — all participants need to be accompanied by an adult — and registration starts at 8:30 a.m.

Youth Sports and Fitness will be offering Mini Sports for ages three to four. Kids will spend two weeks learning the skills of each sport: Basketball, Soccer, and T-Ball. Season runs from June 8 through July 13. Sessions are 45 minutes long at 9, 10, or 11 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Current year’s sports physicals required for all participants. Cost is $30 per child, t-shirt included. The Fort Leonard Wood Marine Corps Detachment is hosting its Volkslauf 10K fun run, starting at 8 a.m. June 8 at the Auto Skills Center. The race contains multiple man-made obstacles, mud pits and river crossings. Cost is $35 per person. Register by June 7. June 11

A pre-retirement briefing is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon June 11 in Lincoln Hall Auditorium. Soldiers are required to attend at least one pre-retirement briefing before retiring. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Call 573.596.6637 for details.

June 14

The U.S. Army Engineer School is hosting a celebration at noon June 14 in Colyer Park, in honor of the Army Engineer Regiment’s 249th birthday.

June 15

Registration for the USO Support Motorcycle Ride is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. June 15 at American Legion Post 43, in Lebanon, Missouri. Riders will depart at noon and travel along Historic Route 66 to the American Legion Post 331, in St. Robert. Call 573.512.1419 for details.

June 25

U.S. Army Garrison Fort Leonard Wood will conduct a change-of-command ceremony at 10 a.m. June 25 on the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza, where Col. Anthony Pollio will relinquish command to Col. Steven Bartley.

The Fort Leonard Wood Commissary has new locations for drop-off orders when using the Click2Go option. They include the NCO Academy, Bldg. 3223, from 11 to 11:30 a.m.; 3200 Morelli Heights, from noon to 12:30 p.m.; 1950 Magness St., from 1 to 1:30 p.m.; 14763 Kidwell St., Bldg. 1945, from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.; 1981 Cooksey St., from 2:30 to 3 p.m.; and 1910 Hall St., from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. Call 573.596.0783, extension 3425, for details.

The Defense Commissary Agency’s Pathways Program provides students in high school, college, technical or vocational school with opportunities to explore federal careers as paid interns, and the Fort Leonard Wood Commissary currently has open positions. Fort Leonard Wood’s Directorate of Emergency Services has policies on checking teenager Department of Defense ID cards at installation access points. If a child is with a parent or guardian, then no ID is required unless the child looks close in appearance to an adult or if the child is driving. Additionally, DOD ID card holders under the age of 18 are not authorized to sponsor non-DOD personnel on post. The South Gate is now open 24/7, and the West Gate is open from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. There are no changes to the hours of operation for the North or East gates.

Fort Leonard Wood community members needing a dress for a formal function can contact the Operation Deploy Your Dress location at the Armed Forces YMCA on post, located at 13900 Replacement Ave. Donations are also accepted.
