FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Aug. 23, 2018) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of Aug. 27 through Aug. 31.
Aug. 27
Maj. Gen. Kent Savre, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general is scheduled to retire Monday after 34 years of service to the United States Army. A retirement ceremony to recognize Savre’s service to Fort Leonard Wood and the U.S. Army will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 27 on the MSCoE Plaza. Those planning to attend the retirement ceremony should plan ahead for road closures at First Street from Missouri to Nebraska avenues, to include MSCoE Loop and Illinois Avenue, which will be closed Monday from 3:45 p.m. until the ceremony is complete.
Aug. 28
Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood Commanding General Change-of-Command Ceremony, 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at Gammon Field. Maj. Gen. Kent Savre will relinquish installation command to Brig. Gen. (Promotable) Donna Martin.
Aug. 29

Aug. 28 through 30
Women’s Basic Self Defense Class, 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 28 through 30 at Army Community Service, Building 486. This class is open to female service members, family members and Department of Defense civilians ages 14 and up. This is a free event. Registration closes Aug. 22. Sept. 1
Youth Bowling League, 10:30 a.m. Sept. 1 at the Daugherty Bowling Center. This is a 16 week non-sanctioned bowling league that will run from September 1 – December 22. There will be no bowling Thanksgiving weekend. Join our “Have a Ball” Program for $5 per week for 10 weeks. Each participating bowler will receive a custom drilled bowling ball. Sept. 8
Bass tournament, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area. Grab your fishing rod and try to lure in the big one. Each boat must have a DOD authorized card holder. Cost is $40 per boat and $10 additional Big bass. For more information, call 573.346.5640.
Sept. 10

Sept. 15
Registration is open to participate in the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fall Yard Sale, scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 at the Baker Theater parking lot. Advance registration is $20 per space. Same-day registration is available for $25 per space. Tables are available for $5. Registration includes a double-length parking space and advertisement. The event is open to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase by the Better Opportunities for Single Service Members program.
