April 9

Join us at10:30 a.m. April 9 at the Bruce C. Clarke library for Story Time. We’ll read a couple of books, do some music and movement and have a small craft afterwards. Stay awhile later and play with STEM kits. The event is free. Call 573.563.4113 for more information.

Fort Leonard Wood’s Tax Center will cease accepting new income tax clients after April 9. The center will remain open April 10, 11 and 15 for processing and signatures. Call 573.596.1040 for details.

April 13

Reel in the big one 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area’s Big Bass Tournament. Each boat must have a DoD authorized ID card holder. Cost is $40 per boat or an additional $10 for optional big bass. For more information, call 573.346.5640.

April 16

A team will visit Fort Leonard Wood April 16 to 18 to provide Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and Assessment training for command officer representatives. The sessions are scheduled to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thurman Hall, Rooms 3722 and 3738, and each trainee need only attend one of the days. Attendees are asked to arrive 30 minutes early. April 17

PT in the Woods will be held at 6 a.m. April 17 at Gerlach Track. Come let your child experience the morning exercise program their mom or dad does every morning, but with a lot more fun. Open to ages 3-18. Kids receive a PT in the Woods t-shirt while supplies last. Registration for this free event begins on-site at 6 a.m.

April 18

Army Special Operations seeks Soldiers who are motivated team players, creative problem solvers and willing to take the next step in their careers! The Special Operations Recruiting Battalion visits Fort Leonard Wood on April 18 and 19 to provide Soldiers informational briefings about the Army Special Operations branches: Special Forces, Psychological Operations, and Civil Affairs as well as detailed guidance regarding the application packet to attend Assessment and Selection for the Army Special Operations branch of choice.

April 19

Join us to solve a one-of-a-kind comedy mystery performed by Ozarks Actors Theatre. The Murder Mystery will be held at 6 p.m. April 19 at Pershing Community Center. Volunteer to become a character and join the fun. Suitable for ages 13 and older. Register in advance by April 18 at leonardwood.armymwr.com. Registration is also available day-of at the door. Cost for early registration is $15 or $25 with appetizer buffet. Day of registration is $20 or $25 with appetizer buffet.

April 20

Join us from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at Gerlach Field for the ultimate Month of the Military Child celebration at the MOMC Palooza. Enjoy bounce houses, music, food trucks, static displays, an obstacle course, games, and much more. This free event is in partnership with the Department of Public Works to celebrate Earth Day.

Beginning in mid-February, contractors will be performing a required inspection of all Fort Leonard Wood on-post family housing, to include a visual survey of the exterior, along with the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, plumbing and electrical systems. The inspectors – who will wear a mask and shoe covers, if requested – will need access to the interior of each home for approximately one hour per house, and at least one resident 18 years or older must be present during the inspection.
