FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (July 25, 2025) — Garrison leaders plan to meet with community members at 10:30 a.m., Aug. 6 in Lincoln Hall Auditorium to discuss all things back-to-school, as well as other Fort Leonard Wood area topics, during the Community Information Forum.

“Proactive preparation in early August supports student success and strengthens family resilience, particularly given the unique challenges of military life,” said Kirstan Carpenter, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Services and Support Division program assistant. “We’ll have key subject matter experts present, available not only to share information but also to answer your questions directly.”

According to Carpenter, a representative from the Waynesville School District will be there to talk about registration, school physicals, transportation and available resources to support student success.

“The CIF is a valuable one-stop shop for information about the many positive initiatives and resources available within the Fort Leonard Wood community,” Carpenter said.

Although back-to-school information will be highlighted during the forum, some of the other topics of discussion will be upcoming MWR activities, religious support programs, Spouse Resource Center events, conservation enforcement, safety initiatives and General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital services.

“All members of the Fort Leonard Wood community are invited and encouraged to attend. Whether you are new to the installation or a long-time resident, you’re sure to discover valuable information,” Carpenter said.

According to MWR’s website, Fort Leonard Wood’s CIF is held at 10:30 a.m., the first Wednesday of each month, except December, in Lincoln Hall Auditorium.

In addition to the CIF, MWR is also planning a Back-to-School Bash supply giveaway and Back-to-School Splash Dash where Fort Leonard Wood firefighters will help students cool down with some splashy, water-filled fun, both on Aug. 2.
