Oct. 25

Get into the Halloween spirit with spooky movies at 4 p.m. Oct. 25 and 27 at the Bruce C. Clarke Library. Movies will be rated PG in the Children’s Room and PG-13 in the Community Room. Event is free and open to all ages but you must be 13 and up to attend without an adult. Stop by the library or check our website at lenoardwood.armymwr.com for the movie schedule. Oct. 26

Put on your costumes and take a walk in front of the Bruce C. Clarke Library while reading a book page by page. The Story walk will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 26. We will be reading “How to Scare a Ghost” by Jean Reagan. Stick around to trick or treat in the library after the story. Join in the fun and create a pumpkin painted in a literary theme. This is Bruce C. Clarke library’s 6th Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Submit your pumpkin to the circulation desk today. Oct. 27

The Fort Leonard Wood Transition Assistance Program is hosting a hiring fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Nutter Field House. All service members, veterans and family members are welcome to attend. Call 573.596.0175 for details.

Oct. 28

Enter if you dare. The BOSS Haunted House is back to get you into the Halloween spirit. Bring your friends for a spooky good time. The Boss haunted house will be in Building 709 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 28 through 29. Appropriate for ages 10 and up – parent discretion is advised. Cost is $2 per person. Concessions will be available for purchase. All proceeds support the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program.

The U.S. Army Garrison Fort Leonard Wood Trunk-or-Treat event occurs from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Main Exchange, and will include games, trunk-or-treating and music by the 399th Army Band Rock Band “The Roughriders.” All ages are welcome. This event is free of charge.

Oct. 29

X-tremely Spooktacular Bowling is taking place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 at Daugherty Bowling Center. Go in costume and have the chance to win prizes. Cost is $2 per game. Price does not include shoe rental, which is $3.

Oct. 31

Trick-or-treating in Fort Leonard Wood’s housing areas is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31, and General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital is hosting candy X-ray from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Radiology Department.

Nov. 5

Support Fort Leonard Wood’s first half marathon. Run begins at 9 a.m. Nov. 5 and will take place along the Fort Leonard Wood troop trail. Check-in at Abrams Theater parking lot. Awards will be presented to the first male and female finishers. Pre-registration from now through Nov. 3 is $20. Day-of registration is $30. Applications for the Dental Assistant Program will be accepted through Jan. 9, The program is a free, six-month combination of classroom and hands-on training designed to provide skills necessary to become employed at any dental treatment facility. Tricare beneficiaries ages six months and older can now receive their flu shots at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital Immunizations Clinic on a walk-in basis from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. The shots will also be available for beneficiaries ages 18 to 64, federal employees, contractors who are mandated to receive the shot and tenant units without medical assists from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the Harper Clinic, located in Bldg. 500.

The 2022 Federal Employees Health Benefits open season is Nov. 14 to Dec. During this time, FEHB enrolees can change their health care, vision and dental insurance coverage. More information on eligibility, enrollment, plan comparisons and premium information is available on the BENEFEDS website at benefeds.com, where you can also register for a virtual benefits fair available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 and 22, and Dec. 1 and 8.

The John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex hours of operation have changed to 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

Due to an increase in applications, the Army Benefits Center is asking Army civilian employees to submit retirement applications six months in advance. Call the Fort Leonard Wood Civilian Personnel Advisory Center at 573.596.0927 if assistance is needed.

Anger Management courses will be held monthly on Fridays throughout October in Army Community Service Room A from 12 to 1:30 p.m. People who have a problem with anger don’t always know how to express it in appropriate and constructive ways.
