FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Sept. 6, 2018) — The U.S. Army Engineer School bid Regimental Command Sgt. Maj. Trevor Walker farewell during a Relinquishment-of-Responsibility ceremony held Aug. 30 on the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza.

Walker assumed the role of top enlisted Soldier at the Engineer School in March 2017.

He is transitioning to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, after being selected as the Security Force Assistance Brigade Division command sergeant major.

“Think about how much that means that we had an engineer selected to be the command sergeant major for that division; it’s absolutely phenomenal and says a lot about Command Sgt. Maj. Walker,” said. Brig. Gen. Robert Whittle Jr., USAES commandant. “Without a doubt he is the perfect choice to take on the challenges of recruiting for and building the Security Force Assistance Brigades.”

Walker said he is grateful for the opportunity to help shape the future of the Engineer Corps.

“As leaders in the military we get to do a lot of things,” he said. “Things others do not get to do.”

He added, “During my time here at Fort Leonard Wood, I got to be the Engineer School sergeant major, a position that I was truly honored and privileged to do and something I never thought I would get to do. Besides being the Engineer School sergeant major, I got to get up every morning and walk through those doors where I could influence the regiment at the Army level.”

Walker said although he will miss his time at the school house, he is excited about the upcoming change.

“Now I get to do something different and be a part of another team, a new team that is still being established,” he said. “I will take everything I learned here over the last year and a half and try to establish a ‘team of teams’ with them, because it’s not just a saying, it’s a lifestyle.”

Sgt. Maj. Corey Deibel is the interim regimental command sergeant major for USAES.
