FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (April 2, 2025) — The Fort Leonard Wood Public Affairs office would like to invite you to witness as more than 70 Soldiers converge on Roubidoux Park in downtown Waynesville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26 for a meet your military event. Spectators can see firsthand as elite combat engineers rappel from a Blackhawk helicopter. Competitors participating in the Best Sapper Competition, taking place from April 25 through April 28 at Fort Leonard Wood, will be flown into the park by CH47 helicopters before taking part in physical tests, where they will be pushed to their limits. There will be military static displays, vehicles and robotics for attendees to interact with. A military working dog team is also slated to attend the event. The event is free and open to the public.
