FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (May 24, 2018) — The Fort Wood Community Spouses’ Club concluded its 2017-18 membership year during a luncheon held May 17 at the Pershing Community Center. The organization recognized its outgoing board members for their service and welcomed the incoming board members for 2018-19.

Chessa Foster, incoming president; Kim Burke, incoming 1st vice president; and Carolee Armstrong, incoming 2nd vice president; will lead the FWCSC in the coming year.

The outgoing 2017-18 Fort Wood Community Spouses Club Board of Governors included: Stephanie Smock, president; Ashley Johnston, 1st vice president; Sally Beck, secretary; Kate Markert, treasurer; Sherry Snider; assistant treasurer; Bray Jones, parliamentarian; Mary Beth Savre, honorary president; Chris Martin, advisor; Kathleen Whittle, advisor; Tacey Munera, advisor; Heather Schroeder, activities; Gretchen Barnes, community outreach; Mary Lee McMillan, historian; Jenna Hillman, hospitality; Sarah Yokubaitis, Postscripts editor; Josh Brantley, property manager; Kim Burke, public relations; Amanda Williams, reservations; Janice Wilson, scholarships; Aimee Johnson, vendor relations; Megan Setter, volunteer coordinator; Julie Fiedler, webmaster; Catherine Kroeger, basket auction; and Samantha Faust and Kari Novak, ways and means.

Fellowship is a big part of the FWCSC mission, along with opportunities for members to participate in charitable works, and to make a positive impact in the lives of military families and the surrounding community.

In 2017-18, the FWCSC theme was “strengthen, connect, and serve,” and the organization gave more than $14,000 in community outreach grants. Additionally, with support from the Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop, the FWCSC awarded more than $27,000 in scholarships for military spouses, dependents and high school seniors.

Fort Wood Community Spouses’ Club members volunteered numerous hours toward its Annual Holiday Craft and Antique Fair, the Annual Basket and Service Auction, the Layette Program, Snack in a Pack, and several other service opportunities around Fort Leonard Wood.
