FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Dec. 7, 2018) – The following Fort Leonard Wood announcements are for the week of Dec. 10 through Dec. 14.

Dec. 10

General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital’s Patient Townhall is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 10 in the MEDDAC classroom. This is the public’s chance to speak to hospital leadership and positively affect change. For more information, call the GLWACH Public Affairs office at 573.596.9359.

Dec. 11

St. Nick’s Benefit Ceremony, 10 a.m. Dec. 11 at Grant Hall Auditorium. The St. Nick’s Benefit provides community members with the opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children and special needs adults. Purchase gifts in price range from $40 to $70. Santa Storytime, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Bruce C. Clarke Library. Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be making a pit stop at the Library to read a story to the children of Fort Leonard Wood. Event is free and pen to the public, all ages. Dec. 13

399th Army Band holiday concert, 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at Baker Theater. The concert is entitled “Letters from the Front: A Musical Holiday Card from the 399th Army Band.” The event is free and open to the public.

Nutcracker Story Time, 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at Bruce C. Clarke Library. Join us for this fun family event. Children can come in their pajamas and participate in reading the classic book “The Nutcracker.” There will be snacks provided and a PG-rated holiday movie to follow the story. Dec. 15

Wreaths Across America is scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery – Fort Leonard Wood. The wreath-laying is an expansion of the ceremony held at Arlington National Cemetery.

Dec. 19

Candy Cane Toss, 2 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Fort Leonard Wood housing area. Starting from Fire Station 1, Santa and friends will visit the Fort Leonard Wood housing area on a fire truck, tossing candy canes to boys and girls. When you hear the sirens, go outside and wave to Santa. For more information call, 573.563.0148.

The Army Community Service Bright Start Play Group runs from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays. Children between the ages of 0 and 3 years are eligible. The children will take part in hands-on activities and interact with other children. For more information, call 573.596.0212.

The Armed Services Blood Program is in need of blood donors. The Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center is located in Bldg. 822 at the corner of Iowa and Kansas Streets. People can donate from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sundays through Tuesdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 573.596.5385 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Fort Leonard Wood Combined Federal Campaign is underway and is scheduled to run through Jan. 12. The CFC provides federal employees with the opportunity to donate to charities via a one-time donation or payroll deduction. According to gatewaycfc.org, the CFC is one of the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaigns, raising millions of dollars each year.
